Your Message in the Bottle is an invitation to participate in the 2008 Dolphin Challenge

What is the Dolphin Challenge?

Each winter, two regional ocean sciences competitions are held in Texas as part of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB®). For 2008, the Dolphin Challenge, consisting of teams representing high schools in the northern half of the state (essentially north of Interstate 10), will be held on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station on Saturday, February 23. Each team consists of four students, one alternate and a coach, who answer ocean-related questions from biology, chemistry, geology, physics, history, economics, geography, navigation and current events.

The NOSB® is supported by U.S. government agencies through the National Oceanographic Partnership Program as well as by corporations, foundations and other non-governmental organizations. Each competing team receives a resource guide, competition rules and sample questions.

The Dolphin Challenge is one of 25 regional competitions held across the United States at CORE-member institutions. At the local level, it is coordinated by the Texas Sea Grant College Program and supported by Texas A&M’s College of Geosciences and the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences.

The Dolphin Challenge will be held at the Wehner Building on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station. The first place team from this regional will advance to the NOSB® finals in Seward, Alaska.
