The Marine
Information Service (MIS) plays a vital role in keeping coastal and
inland media outlets up to date on current marine issues, and ultimately,
informing the public.
Often done in the form of press releases, MIS reporting includes everything
from the work of Sea Grant's Marine Advisory Service (MAS) to breaking
news affecting the Texas coast.
Press releases highlight Sea Grant-sponsored research and relate the
work of Marine Agents and Specialists in counties along the Texas
coast. (Marine agents act as generalists providing information on
a variety of issues and specialists focus on specific issues such
as fisheries, business or aquaculture.)
