Jim Hiney
Jim Hiney joined the Texas Sea Grant College Program in June 1995 as an Associate Editor whose primary focus was writing and producing the quarterly Texas Shores magazine. He was named Communications Coordinator in 2006 and given responsibility for overseeing operations of the Marine Information Service.
Hiney received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas A&M University in 1985 and for the next five years worked as a general assignment reporter for weekly and twice-weekly newspapers in several small Texas communities. In 1990, he joined the staff of the daily Bryan-College Station Eagle, where his primary beat was reporting on county government and the court system. He wrote for The Eagle until he began is tenure with Texas Sea Grant.
During his career, Hiney has won more than 40 awards for writing, photography and publications production.
