Education at all levels is one of the cornerstones of Texas Sea Grant's mission. In addition to the programs and publications listed below, many Texas Sea Grant staff members conduct educational activities ranging from classroom visits to hurricane preparedness seminars as part of their duties.The Dolphin Challenge
Texas Sea Grant coordinates this northern Texas regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl®. The college bowl-style competition for high school students focuses on marine and coastal science with questions from biology, physics, chemistry, geology, geography, mathematics and the social sciences.Publications for Teachers

For university students:
Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship
The Class of 2010 application deadline is February 20, 2009. Candidates apply through their state’s Sea Grant program. Each year for more than a decade, Texas Sea Grant has had at least one applicant accepted to the Fellowship, which offers graduate students the opportunity to gain valuable experience while providing expertise to government agencies, including NOAA and the National Science Foundation, or to the executive branch in Washington, D.C., to aid their marine policy or natural resource efforts. Texas Sea Grant hosts a conference each fall to give investigators of its funded research projects an opportunity to share their findings with university-based colleagues across disciplines related to marine and coastal research and with their peers at state natural resource agencies. The conference is held on a rotating basis in College Station, Galveston or the Coastal Bend.Ralph Rayburn Texas Sea Grant Scholarship Fund
Texas Sea Grant is accepting donations to build an endowment for this oceanography graduate scholarship, which is named for the program’s late Associate Director and Extension Leader.
