April conference to focus on outlook for marine, offshore industries
HOUSTON — Early registration closes Saturday, March 31, for the 31st Annual International Marine/Offshore Industry Outlook Conference to be held April 23 at the Omni Houston Hotel Westside.
The conference, which is co-sponsored by the Texas Sea Grant College Program and the National Ocean Industries Association, will include a luncheon presentation by Melody Meyer, vice president of the Gulf of Mexico Strategic Business Unit of Chevron Corp., on future development opportunities in the offshore oil and gas industry.
“During the past 10 years the marine/offshore industry has gone through a myriad of changes that have brought with them financial problems and constraints that spurred the need for innovative financial planning and organizing efforts,” said Dewayne Hollin, conference coordinator and marine business management specialist for Texas Sea Grant.
The conference’s opening session will present a financial overview of the offshore industry by James Wicklund, chief investment officer of Spinnerhawk Capital Management.
A panel of marine/offshore industry leaders will discuss the 2006-2008 outlook for underwater services, offshore drilling, and transportation and service operations. Scheduled panelists include John M. Gellert, senior vice president of SEACOR Holdings Inc.; Peter Atkinson, president and chief financial officer of Global Industries Ltd.; Bob Hogan, president and chief executive officer of Amercable Inc.; and Steven Newman, chief operating officer of Transocean Inc.
Time will be provided for a question-and-answer period after each session.
Early registration for the conference at $80 per person is available until March 31. Regular registration is $100 per person while space remains.
